The first thing you must do, is to get your villagers to collect the crates, and as soon as you have enough, start making them in the town center. Meanwhile get the rest of your villagers on wood, send your scout to discover the map, and send your explorer to got treasures, so that you can have a bit more resources, or even a couple more villagers. when your villagers have been made, leave 3 or 4 on food, 1 on gold, and the rest on wood.
Since you have so much wood, you can start building houses, outposts, docks, mills, and even walls, but you must remember to never stop making villagers, because without villagers you can't have resources.
when you have between 18, and 25 villagers, you should advance age, but remember to put more on gold and food so that once you get to the second age, you can start building up an army.
remember to pick cards that give you extra civilian units and not ones that give you other things like stronger explorer, or a pet dog etc.
